Hurricanes Host for 2009 Maryland AAU District Championships; Commemorative T-Shirt Available

The Maryland Hurricanes is serving as "host club" for the 2009 Maryland District AAU Championships.

The tournament begins April 24 and runs for four weeks. Junior Division teams -- 9-under, 10-under, 11-under, 12-under and 13-under – begin April 24. Senior Division teams – 14-under, 15-under and 16-under – begin May 1. Games will be played at high school gyms across the area. Click on the Maryland Girls AAU Web site for the full schedule.

The finals for the Junior Division will be held May 1, 2 and 3 at North County High School in Anne Arundel County, MD with the championship games on Sunday, May 3.

The finals for the Senior Division will be held May 15, 16 and 17 also at North County High School with the championship games on Sunday, May 17.

As part of hosting the tournament, the Hurricanes will make available a commemorative T-shirt available for purchase. The pictured design will be on the front of the T-shirt with a list of the 34 clubs participating in the tournament on the back. The cost per shirt is $15.00 for youth large, adult small, medium, large and extra large, $17.00 for adult 2XL and $19.00 for adult 3XL.

The shirts will be available for sale throughout the tournament at Hurricanes host sites at North County High and Old Mill High.

Hurricanes Partner with Velocity Sports Performance to Provide Athletic Training Opportunities


The Maryland Hurricanes has joined with Velocity Sports Performance to provide training services for Hurricanes athletes and teams.

Velocity is a full-service athletic training organization located at 1427 Clarkview Road, Suite 300, Baltimore, MD 21209. Discounts are available to Hurricanes teams and athletes, and Velocity certified trainers are available for demonstrations at clinics and practice sessions.

Velocity has programs available for athletes at various ages and stages of physical development. Velocity programs can be tailored to individuals to increase speed and agility, achieve greater strength and power and reduce the likelihood of injuries.
