Hurricanes Coaching Opportunities

The Hurricanes are recruiting new coaches for the 2004 winter travel season and 2005 AAU season.

We build our teams in several ways.

If you are a travel or recreational league coach and have a core group of players that you want to play at a higher level, we can help you recruit players to add to your roster. If you want to start a team from scratch and build it over several seasons, we can help you get going with facilities and structure. If you want to coach as an assistant on your daughter’s team, we can find a spot for you to help out in practice and at games.

The greatest need in the organization is for coaches in the younger age groups for girls born in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995. Our goal is for the coach to remain with a team as it moves up through the various age groups. These younger age groups are good fits for “dad coaches” who want to help develop the games of their daughters and other girls.

The Hurricanes also will be organizing new teams in the older age groups when the girls high school basketball season ends. We can help place high school players on our existing upper age group teams. High school coaches and parents are also welcome to form teams to give players additional experience in the spring and summer.

Hurricanes teams operate as units within the structure of the organization. We are a regional organization with our players coming from Baltimore City and Baltimore, Arundel, Howard, Harford, Carroll and Frederick counties. Teams can be based where the coach is based. The Hurricanes can help secure practice facilities and provide organizational support, such as promotion of players and teams on our Web site, uniforms and fund-raising.
