About the Team
This Hurricanes team is a unique mixture of two age groups – girls born in 1991 and 1992 who live in Baltimore and Anne Arundel county and Baltmore. The combined team had a strong season during the winter playing in the 13/14 “B” Division age group of the Arbutus Sunday League sponsored by the Arbutus Girls Atheletic Association League. The team was formidable in Arbutus League, jumping out to a 5-1 record in early season play and appearing in the division championship game in March. The team ended in second place in the division and placed third overall out of 24 teams in the league. Coach Avon Holland, a long-time area basketball and football coach, is in his second year as a Maryland Hurricanes coach.
